Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue led a trade mission to Mexico this week where he was joined by Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Ted McKinney, the heads of six state departments, and more than 100 industry and government representatives. The event also gathered representatives from local producers and distributors and Mexican Secretary of Agriculture, Victor Villalobos. It was the fourth meeting this year between Perdue and Villalobos and Perdue’s first visit to Mexico.
USDA Foreign Agricultural Service Agricultural Trade Office in Mexico City held a welcome event for Perdue and the participants of the trade mission with a “tailgate” theme. NFL representatives also were in attendance for the promotional activity held in advance of an upcoming game at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. USAPEEC Mexico and other cooperators sampled products made with U.S. ingredients, processed or marketed in Mexico. USAPEEC Mexico sampled chicken wings, turkey tenders and turkey sandwiches, donated by ALCO, Butterball and PROBOCA. USAPEEC’s mobile kitchen, was the busiest booth of the event, serving more than 300 dishes to attendees.
