San Antonio to host USAPEEC
April 4, 2023
The 34th USAPEEC Annual Meeting is but six weeks from now, so the time is opportune to hear
a little bit about the host city.
It’s said that few destinations provide a sense of place like San Antonio. It’s where the bell
towers of Spanish colonial missions rung each morning for nearly three centuries. Mexican,
European, and Western cultures mix, providing a blend unique in the U.S.
Much of the city’s unforgettable landscape has grown along the banks of the River Walk where
stone paths run aside the San Antonio River connecting hotels, restaurants, and shops in the
downtown core.
The 15-mile River Walk links Spanish Colonial Missions (a World Heritage Site, along with the
Alamo), museums, public art and the Pearl, a former brewery reborn into an eclectic mix of
shops, restaurants and entertainment.
Famed for Tex-Mex cuisine, San Antonio is gaining attention these days for Tex-Next as the
nation’s next big culinary destination. The city offers exciting restaurant options for every palate.
Recreation-wise, there are more than 50 golf courses to enjoy (USAPEEC members can try one
in their golf outing), and the city is regarded as a wonderful place for families.

registration deadline is near. It’s also wise to book a hotel room as the discounted USAPEEC
room block deadline also draws close.
