COVID-19 impact affected U.S. turkey export markets last year

Markets for U.S. turkey exports were greatly affected by two main factors in 2020. Reduced U.S. turkey production coupled with the effects of fallout from the global outbreak of COVID-19 registered the biggest impact on turkey imports.
But, as can be seen in the accompanying chart, the impact varied by market.
For January through November of last year, the most recent period for which data is available, some markets thrived. Among them: China, Haiti, South Korea, Guatemala, and Vietnam. Those five markets together had export increases totaling 20,500 metric tons.
