2020? It was a very good year...for broiler and egg exports

February 8, 2021

U.S. broiler and egg exports increased in both volume and value in 2020, a year in which the industry set several all-time records in key markets despite the complications caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The records included: the value of broiler exports to China reached an all-time high; the volume of broiler exports to Mexico was the most ever, and both the value and volume of broiler exports to Taiwan hit historic levels.

All that good news is contained in new trade data released late Friday by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service.

China led all other markets in the value of U.S. broiler exports for the year, a particularly impressive accomplishment because the market, which only opened to the U.S. in December of 2019, didn’t truly operate at full efficiency until the Spring of 2020.
