New food packaging regulations in Mexico causing uncertainty

Mexico’s implementation of a new and unexpected imported food packaging regulation is causing some administrative issues at the U.S. border.
The Foreign Trade Law The Foreign Trade Law requirement that went into effect Oct. 1. That has created uncertainty because, originally, food labeling requirements applied only to prepackaged products for retail.
As a result, some food products other than those prepackaged for retail sale are being detained at the border.
